Heavy Events
FROM THE FOUNDER
This year we continue as usual but with one big difference. The Heavy Events have returned to the Kansai! In 2003 we were forced to remove this popular and very traditional Scottish sport from our Kansai Highland Games. However thanks to Alex Beech they will be reinstated. Alex has agreed to take over the running of this event. Masanori Nomiyama who set up the sport here in the Kansai, making cabers in order to get the thing underway, is going to continue to supply the equipment. We will have cabers flying and hammers whirling before you can say, ‘It’s a braw bricht moonlicht nicht!'
Next year we will host pipers and drummers from many different countries. Come either year from a wonderful day of real Scottish tradition and culture. Come both years for a glimpse of how the Scots coming from such a small nation (population of under 6 million) has spread her culture around the world.
